Meet Zander..The New Love in My Life

SSSs, have I got someone to introduce you too! Meet the newest member of our family...introducing Zander!

Zander is now 14 weeks old and a pug x poodle x jack russell.

We got him from a rescue place in NSW - www.companionsforlife.com.au . The Man and I ideally wanted to adopt a dog if we found a suitable one. I've never had a puppy before so we wanted one that was relatively young. We looked in a couple of local stores and some private sales, met some lovely puppies (but some were $1300 or a little too nippy!), but when we went to meet Zander, we found he was the one.

He has give us soooooo much joy in the last 5 days. But also a bit of stress with trying to toilet train and get enough sleep. He's off to his first puppy pre-school tonight, so hopefully we'll be able to learn how to iron out some of the barking and separation stuff.

Charlie-bear, our 20 year old cat, isn't handling it so well! She's become a lot clingier and we're trying to introduce them slowly and give her as much love and attention as we can. Dad (who is still here visiting!) is making it up to her by giving her a load of tasty treats...

Being a pet owner is a big responsibility and you shouldn't go into it lightly. Look at your schedule, do your puppy care research. We all have a lot of love to give, but that has got to be backed up with enough time, care and attention to give your furry friends what they need - especiallly in those first few months!

I'm lucky enough to work from home and have a good support network which is why we thought it would be a good time to give him a home now. We've got a big holiday planned for Europe in about a year's time and already looking for doggy-sitters! Any takers?!?!?!?!?

Do you have furry friends? What's your experience with having them?

A Whimsical Weekend

This weekend reconnected me with Whimsy...

Sitting by a fire, sipping on wine, looking at gorgeous books filled with creative expression and dreams, bits of crafty inspiration. Being surrounded by wonderful women, food, music and the elements you'll find in the pictures below. What a wonderful time it was...

Artfully arranged scrabble letters by the door...

Inspiring quotations met in every direction...

 Flights of feathery fancy...

Beautiful natural elements intertwined with practicality...

Teacups and Teapots and Tea (and wine) galore...

 DIY stamp mania...

 Lavender and Doily touches abound...

Beauty in a teacup...

It was a day and a night spent in the Blue Mountains that was soooooo nourishing to the soul. It really was a beautiful, dreamy time and the hosts were fabulous (thanks gals)!

Thank you for reconnecting me with these simple but forgotten pursuits.

I am planning on cracking out some more nurturing time and creating some more beauty around me. Some soothing music, red wine, surrounded by inspiring pieces, writing what comes up in my journal, comfy place, warm clothes...Simple, luxurious bliss!

How are you nurturing your souls lovelies?

10thousandgirl Post: The Creative Everyday

So yes, I have been doing some writing, though not here on SSS. I've had to (enjoyably!!) do it  for work as I've sidestepped to be the Editorial Content manager at 10thousandgirl - something I am very excited about!

I'll be doing a range of interviews, articles and posts on a regular basis as well as putting together the monthly newsletter. And I'm on the lookout for contributors - so if you are one or if you know any, you know what to do (or if you don't know what to do... email me at savvysassyshe@gmail.com).

So if you're raring for something to read by yours truly, visit the post here: http://www.10thousandgirl.com/2011/07/04/creative-everyday/

Stop Putting It Off

This photo has nothing to do with anything in this post. I've just been told to always have a photos with a post. And I just love flowers so enjoy.

I've stopped putting it off!

So much time had gone by since I had written here and more and more was happening and I didn't know where to start...so I didn't.

Now, my dear readers, it wasn't about you. You I missed. And I was carrying around a very heavy bucket of guilt for not checking in here.

And I missed the writing and the perspective of looking at the things going on in my life with a view of sharing it.

So, I'm back.

Don't worry, I'll write a post full of the excuses of the reasons why I've been absent. It is not so funny, but I'll try my best to make it amusing!

See y'all soon my dear, dear SSSs, can't wait to properly reconnect.

Tell me one exciting thing that's happened to y'all in the past two months (beside practicing faux texan accents) in the comments section. I'd love to hear from you...think of it like an ethical bribe in welcoming me back to the blog world...

Make it as you wish SSSs!
